Joey & Amanda

Our Story

We first met back in 7th grade, and from then on, our paths kept crossing–sometimes without us even realizing it. We both grew up in the same tight-knit community, just down the street from each other. Amanda worked at the local golf course where her family were members, while Joey spent countless hours there practicing and falling in love with the game. We were often in the same place at the same time, but didn’t quite connect... yet.

At 18, we both ended up working at Stevens Pass, drawn by our shared love of the mountains. After that season, life took us in different directions for a while. At 18, we both found ourselves working at Stevens Pass, drawn in by a shared love of the mountains. During college, Amanda reconnected with her high school friends (Mandy, Natalie, and Megan), who all ended up at CWU and just so happened to be part of the same friend group as Joey. It was through those mutual friendships that the spark between us finally lit.

As we grew, both individually and in love, our shared interests deepened along the way. Our love of the outdoors, skiing/snowboarding, and spontaneous weekend adventures brought us even closer.

Over the years, we experienced some of life’s biggest “firsts” side by side, navigating college, building our careers, traveling to new places, adopting our son and daughter (Baker and Tenby, our very good pups), and buying our first condo together.

And on March 24th, on a drizzly day on Fox Island, Alaska, surrounded by the Chugach Mountain Range, whale sightings, and some of their closest friends, Joey asked Amanda to marry him... And that’s why you’re reading this now.

Our story as the Radkes is just beginning, and we’re so glad each one of you is a part of it.

P.S. For years, we’ve dreamed of sharing our favorite place with all of our family and friends, especially those in the Midwest, on our wedding day. Snoqualmie Pass and Alpental mean so much to us, and we can’t wait to share the magic with you.

For some backstory, Amanda’s dad owns a ski school at the Pass that was started by her grandpa in 1969. He even built the lodge. Amanda started going there when she was just 2 and learned to ski at Snoqualmie. One of our first dates was skiing at the Pass, where Amanda got stuck in feet of wet snow while Joey quietly chuckled at her struggle to escape (she made it). Every year since, we’ve worked together at the ski school in the winters and spent summers hiking and backpacking in the surrounding mountains. This place is woven into our love story, and we’re so excited to share it with the people who mean the most to us.
